Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs: FAQ

How long will the student need tutoring?

If the student has a language-based learning disability, there is no quick fix. Many of our students receive tutoring services for months or years to get back on track academically.

Is tutoring offered year-round?

We organize our tutoring sessions into three sessions:

  • Winter/Spring Session  (January - May)

  • Summer Session  (June - August)

  • Fall Session  (August  - December)

We generally close for about two weeks between each session.

See our online calendar for exact starting/ending dates.

Do I have to commit to a certain amount of time?

Yes, you must commit to completing the session you begin such as Summer Session, Fall Session, etc. However, if you discontinue services before the end of the session, a $100 Interruption Fee will be assessed.

Will a student always have the same tutor?

Yes, the student will be scheduled with the same one or two tutors for each session, though they may occasionally have a substitute tutor.
When a new session begins, such as when Summer Session ends and Fall Session begins, the student may have a new tutor for scheduling reasons.

What if the student is dyslexic?

Most of our students exhibit some signs of having dyslexia. Many are diagnosed; some are not. The Director is a member of The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) and is certified in the Wilson Reading System, an Orton-Gillingham-based language tutorial program designed for children and adults who have learning disabilities such as dyslexia.

How much does this all cost?

  • 40-minute Individual Virtual Sessions cost $56 per lesson.

  • 25-minute Individual Virtual Sessions cost $35 per lesson.

  • Intake and Assessment Fee is $240

  • One-time Registration Fee is $50.

  • Materials Fees are $75 for Spring and $75 for Fall.

  • Consumable Materials (workbooks, etc.) are billed as needed.

Is financial assistance available?

We offer partial scholarships to enrolled students who demonstrate both financial and academic need. The number and amounts of scholarships awarded may vary, based on available funds.  Scholarship applications are reviewed quarterly (in January, April, July, and October).

Scholarship applications are distributed at the parent follow-up meeting following the student intake appointment.

No one has ever been turned away due to the inability to pay. Please talk to the Director at 304-744-8188.
